Fabulous Female Founders
Some of my favourite people, brands, products, writers, authors, mothers, celebrities, creators and entrepreneurs are women or have been created or co-created by a woman. In fact, it seems to me that all things bright and beautiful have creative, multi-tasking women behind them, which goes for successful men too. Everyone knows that behind a great man is an even greater woman. This part of my website celebrates fabulous female founders from all walks of life, who work in big and small industries; some are well-known and others are not yet heard of. What they all have in common is a hard-working ethic, passion and an entrepreneurial spirit. I hope you enjoy meeting them and reading about them as much as I have, and please, if you know someone who is a fabulous female founder, let me know!
I would love to feature them here.

An interview with hotelier Abigail Tan
Abigail Tan is not your typical hotel leader. One day she’s boxing at dawn, the next she’s flying a helicopter, racing on a motorbike, strumming her guitar or throwing herself into a Tough Mudder. And when she’s not on the move, she’s discovering something new to eat. That energy runs through everything she does. She believes hotels should be lived with passion, not managed by routine – and that spirit defines the culture at St Giles.
Abigail Tan: a hotelier with grit, heart and real momentum
Abigail Tan brings grit and joy to hospitality. She’s the one boxing at 6am, flying a helicopter by lunch, hopping on a motorbike by dusk, then practising a new guitar riff before dinner. When she finally sits down, it’s to eat well and talk ideas. That pace feeds her day job: hotels should be lived with passion. It’s the energy she asks of her team and the culture she’s building at St Giles Hotels.
