Church Farm B&B, Suffolk
Reviewed in April 2024
For over two decades, Ruth and Paul have lovingly overseen this charming adults-only two-bedroom B&B, set amidst their working farm just a short distance from Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham. Steeped in family history since the 1950s, when Paul's grandfather acquired the land, the farm has flourished under their care. The meticulously designed rooms, named Pippin and Bramley, reflect Ruth's artistic flair and feature private entrances for added convenience. Thoughtful touches abound, from teas, coffees, and homemade brownies to modern amenities like USB and USBC sockets. Each room boasts a sumptuous super king-size bed, spacious en-suite shower room, luxury bed linens, and Bramley bath and body products. Guests are treated to a fabulous breakfast showcasing farm-fresh or locally sourced ingredients, complemented by homemade bread and jams. The orchards, resplendent with apple and pear trees, offer tranquil spots to admire the countryside, especially during the blossoming spring season. Come winter, the farm transforms into a festive wonderland, with Ruth and Paul selling Christmas trees and offering a delightful selection of decorations in their Suffolk barn. While there's no on-site restaurant, a charming pub is just a short stroll away, ensuring guests have all they need for a memorable stay. With its impeccable attention to detail and Suffolk charm, this two-room B&B rivals even the most luxurious boutique hotels.
