The Joshua Tree House
Places to Reflect, Reset, & Create
NEAR JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK AND SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA, USA
About Owners Sara Combs and Rich Combs
Sara Combs and Rich Combs were high school sweethearts and are the creative owners of The Joshua Tree House. They live full-time in the Hacienda in the Mojave desert of Joshua Tree, CA designing physical and digital experiences for everyone to enjoy and be inspired by. The House, and the Casita are rented out for others to come to reflect, reset, and create in this incredible landscape.
In 2013, they both left their full-time jobs as web designers to set up their own design studio. As freelance designers, they began to test the boundaries of a typical work environment and took their work on the road. Throughout their travels, they explored many amazing places across the United States and Southeast Asia. When they came home they followed an unquestionable pull that led them to a very special 1949 hacienda in Joshua Tree, CA.
Initially meant to simply be their own personal retreat, they started renting out the house to fund their project. They quickly discovered that many others were also yearning for a place to reflect and create, and so eventually they opened the House up for full-time rentals.
They spent all of 2016 and half of 2017 renovating the Hacienda and the Casita, simultaneously the hardest and best times of their lives.
It’s the desert that has guided them to a re-appreciation of the simplest moments and the kind of happiness that can’t be taken away.
Take a deep breath….reflect and release..
